Nick Lavelle: Award Winning Actor Returns to Screen Following Adversity

For actor Nick Lavelle, the journey back to the screen has been about far more than landing a role. It has been about resilience, discipline, and rebuilding from adversity.

Lavelle, an award winning British actor, has recently completed filming on the psychological thriller The Nice Ones, a feature set for U.S. and worldwide distribution through Los Angeles based distributor Level 33 Entertainment. In the film, he plays Jay, an unpredictable and offbeat antagonist whose presence adds tension to an already unsettling story.

But behind the scenes, Lavelle’s path to the role was anything but straightforward.

Following a battle with cancer, he faced the challenge of returning not just to acting, but to a physically and mentally demanding profession. Rather than easing back in, Lavelle committed to a disciplined regime to rebuild his strength, focus, and confidence, both in his body and in his craft.

“Adversity is a great teacher,” he says. “It forces you to look at everything differently, how you approach your work, your health, and your mindset.”

That mindset became central to his return. Preparing for The Nice Ones meant more than learning lines or stepping into character. It required a renewed level of commitment and mental resilience. For Lavelle, the role of Jay represented an opportunity to channel that journey into something creative, a character who is both unpredictable and layered.

The film itself follows a group of friends whose countryside getaway begins to unravel after strange lights appear in the sky, triggering paranoia and tension within the group. As the story unfolds, the line between reality and something far more unsettling begins to blur.

Alongside Lavelle, the film features a strong cast including Ian Whyte, Daniela Norman, Joelle Rae, Emrhys Cooper, and Donna Preston.

Outside of acting, Lavelle is also an entrepreneur, working as an international property broker, investor, and the owner of his own London based property management company. Balancing business with creative work has required adaptability and a forward thinking approach, qualities that became even more important during periods of personal challenge.

“I’ve always believed in keeping momentum, even when things are difficult,” he explains. “Whether it’s business or acting, you have to keep moving forward.”

That philosophy has shaped his outlook, not only professionally but personally. Lavelle is passionate about encouraging others who may be facing their own challenges to stay focused and use adversity as a catalyst for growth.

“If sharing my story helps even one person to keep going, then it’s worth it,” he says.

Now, with The Nice Ones completed and heading toward release, Lavelle’s return marks the beginning of a new chapter, one defined not just by opportunity, but by perspective.

For him, the experience has reinforced a simple but powerful belief: setbacks do not define you, how you respond to them does.

As he looks ahead to future projects, Lavelle remains focused on continuing to grow both as an actor and as an individual, carrying forward the lessons learned along the way.

“Everything in life is about timing,” he reflects. “But you have to trust the process, and keep moving forward.”
