Singer Jesse Neo Becomes Hip Hop Songwriter With New Startup – Gemtracks

Electronic music artist, producer and DJ, Jesse Neo, well known for his infectious club hits that have garnered radio plays and magazine reviews in the past few years, is making a change by entering the hip-hop music scene as a songwriter.

“I want people to know that I am a versatile and flexible writer that can easily adapt to different genres,” Jesse told us. “I started out in the electronic music scene and have worked for major labels and media companies within the genre. However, as my taste in music changed, I felt like I could give rap music a go too.”

One issue Jesse faced when taking the move was finding clients willing to take on an electronic artist for their rap songs. So, Jesse launched a startup known as Gemtracks to showcase his hip hop beats – and to his surprise, things have been working pretty fine.

“Gemtracks started out as a personal website for me to list my unused beats that I never managed to release,” Jesse explained. “There was really no specific type of music that I listed on there – just whatever I felt I was in the mood for, or whatever I had lying around with no use.”

We learned that each beat could be sold for up to $600 each. The reason for the high price is justified by the fact each track can only be sold once. The buyer then gets the copyright and ownership transferred to them, which means they won’t need to credit or pay the original producer.

With the purchased beats, the buyer can use them in their own song releases. This gives artists professional backing tracks without the need for a traditional label.

“A lot of people found the unique selling point of Gemtracks interesting,” Jesse continued. “So I decided to turn Gemtracks into public marketplace for musicians everywhere to sell their beats, and indie artists and companies to purchase them to use in their own projects. Actually, beats sold on Gemtracks have earned more than a million streams so far!”

Currently, there is already a handful of composers and producers registered on the website to sell their unused beats. These include Milana Leybovich, I.Y.F.F.E, Beowülf, Taylor Carroll, Lucas Gold and more.

“Eventually I want Gemtracks to turn into the ultimate destination for musicians to come together, sell and purchase musical assets, as well as collaborate with each other in ways that were not possible in the past,” Jesse said. “In fact, I have just launched a freelance marketplace to find music producers to help those artists that don’t have much connections in the industry.”

As we can see, Gemtracks seems like a wonderful startup, especially what is happening in the world right now. Musicians and songwriters can now make a living online while helping other people in the industry reach their career goals.

So if you’re an artist looking for some urban music, make sure you head over to Gemtracks to buy beats.
