Old fridge used as a boat for flood rescue in Kerala

Yes you heard it right. An Old fridge was used as a boat for flood rescue in Kerala. It acted as a perfect boat when its door was dismantled and some rearrangements were made. Using this ”boat” Dr Johnson Vaalayil Edicula, the inventor of this boat could rescue 3 families to a safer place.

He posted about this in his fb post which can be translated as follows :

Experience taught that there is such a benefit from the damaged fridge. This double door fridge was damaged during the flood in 2018. So we decided to buy a new one. We initially thought to give the old fridge and buy the new fridge. But as per my wife’s suggestion that it may be useful in future,we repaired the old fridge and we gave it to a person who doesn’t had a fridge and we bought a new one. Later he returned it without getting damaged after his use. Finally we decided to use the fridge for a new invention..

Today many people understood the benefit of obeying their wife.. Due to the flood threat that happened last day, the fridge was made into a shape of boat with the help of our neighbor Vinod…. Yesterday, 3 families were brought to another safe home using this fridge boat. It benefits many. Free service is available.
