Patient stabbed Woman Doctor to death

A young doctor named Dr. Vandana Das from Kerala, India, lost her life in a gruesome attack at Kottarakara hospital. According to a police officer, the incident occurred when the doctor was attending to a patient who had been brought to the hospital for treatment by police. As the doctor was dressing a wound on the man’s leg, he suddenly attacked everyone in the room with a scissor and scalpel. The young doctor bore the brunt of the attack, and despite being rushed to a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram, she could not be saved. The police officers accompanying the man were also injured.

Previously, the attacker had called the emergency number, claiming to be in danger from his family members following a fight with them. When police arrived, they found him injured and took him to the taluk hospital. The man had consumed alcohol and was violent when he was taken to the hospital. He was alone with the doctor as police officers are not allowed into the room when a patient’s wound is being dressed.

It remains unclear why the man suddenly became violent and targeted the doctor. He also vandalized some areas of the hospital before being subdued and taken into custody. A case under Section 307 of the Indian Penal Code for attempted murder was lodged against him, and murder charges are likely to be imposed in view of the doctor’s death.

The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has condemned the incident and announced protests across Kerala. An IMA official called the attack “unfortunate and sad” and emphasized that such incidents should not happen. The doctor was a house surgeon at Azeezia Medical College Hospital and was at the taluk hospital as part of her training. Medical professionals in Kottarakkara took to the streets in protest against the incident. Despite several attempts to resuscitate her, the doctor could not be saved, leaving the medical community outraged and demanding justice.
