British Writer Danny James Hayward Earns Global Recognition for Shadow Brother
British filmmaker and writer Danny James Hayward continues to gain international attention as his short screenplay “Shadow Brother” collects recognition from multiple film festivals across Europe and beyond.
In October 2025, Shadow Brother was officially honoured at the Florence Film Awards (Italy) in the Short Script/Screenplay category, marking a major milestone for the project. The Florence Film Awards are known for spotlighting emerging and independent voices, giving global exposure to innovative storytelling.
The screenplay has also appeared on the official credits list on FilmFreeway and award certificates for the GLIFF Awards, further confirming its growing festival presence. Though GLIFF does not publicly list every award category online, the recognition is recorded on Hayward’s FilmFreeway profile and in official festival communication.
Additionally, Shadow Brother received a Runner-Up recognition at the White Rose Film Festival, confirmed via official festival email. The White Rose Festival highlights promising screenwriters whose work demonstrates creativity, originality, and strong character development—an area where Shadow Brother stands out strongly.
With multiple festival acknowledgements now on record, Shadow Brother continues its journey across the festival circuit while Hayward moves forward with development plans.
Speaking about the project, Hayward described the screenplay as “a personal story about identity, truth, and the shadows we inherit from family.” Industry insiders are already calling it a potential contender for more international awards in the coming months.
