Dr. R. Prakash: Kerala’s Pioneer in Kirlian Photography and Ayurveda Research

Dr. R. Prakash, a renowned Ayurvedic physician, academic, and researcher, is widely regarded as the first person from Kerala to study Kirlian photography abroad and introduce its practical applications in the state. Through this innovation, he brought Aura Imaging and Biofield Science into the mainstream of Ayurvedic diagnostics.

Born on June 1, 1956, in Karunagappally, Kollam, Dr. Prakash pursued extensive education in Ayurveda and allied sciences. He holds degrees in B.Sc., B.A.M., D.S.M., C.B.C., D.G.L. (German Language Diploma), and an M.D. in Ayurveda with a specialization in Panchakarma.

With over 35 years of clinical, academic, and research experience, he has served as a professor at the Government Ayurveda Medical College and held several academic positions ranging from tutor to professor. From 2003 to 2008, he was also a member of the Medical Council for Indian Systems of Medicine, Government of Kerala.

Dr. Prakash’s expertise extends to Panchakarma therapies, pulse diagnosis, prakriti analysis, and full-body mind assessment using Aura Imaging. He is also credited with developing distance diagnostic methods, which allow early detection of health and psychological imbalances.

Internationally, he has conducted Ayurveda seminars and Panchakarma training programs in Europe, including Austria, where he trained doctors and therapists in Ayurvedic therapies and massage techniques.

In recognition of his pioneering role, colleagues and scholars note that Dr. Prakash’s integration of Kirlian photography with Ayurveda has opened new dimensions in holistic health research and practice in Kerala.
