A former music executive and jazz singer, Tempest X’s journey began in the music industry, where she worked with top-tier artists like Lil Wayne, French Montana, Ice-T, Ashanti, and George Foreman, among others. She has written original works for some of the biggest names in the business, from Naughty By Nature to Miles Electric Band, and scripted promotional content for OMB Peezy (300 Entertainment). Her music background has shaped her affinity for music-based projects, but as she says, “Boxes are boring,” and she prefers to let her creativity unfold naturally.

Tempest is also deeply rooted in activism. She participated in the #RaiseThePercentage initiative, partnering with Walt Disney and SONY TV to fight against discrimination in the TV writing industry.   1. Three Suns (Scripted TV Series – In Development)
    • Tempest X is the writer, creator, and executive producer of Three Suns, a highly anticipated scripted series starring Emmy Award winner Joe Morton. The series is directed by Janice Cooke-Leonard, whose previous work includes Scandal, How to Get Away with Murder, Power, and BMF. The show is being produced by Michael Helfand (former co-head of Sony Pictures), Milissa Kazuko Douponce (Hulu, Apple TV+), Lisa Osinloye, and Simone White. Three Suns promises to deliver an engaging narrative, blending historical themes with powerful storytelling.
  2. The Label (Scripted TV Series – In Development)
    • Tempest X is also behind The Label, another scripted series in development. As the writer, creator, and executive producer, Tempest teams up again with Lisa Osinloye to bring this project to life. This series is expected to delve into powerful, compelling storytelling that reflects Tempest’s distinctive creative vision.
  3. DJ Whoo Kid Series (Scripted TV Series – In Development)
    • Tempest co-created and wrote the DJ Whoo Kid Series, based on the memoir of DJ Whoo Kid, known for his work with 50 Cent’s G-Unit. Azim Spicer and DJ Whoo Kid himself are executive producers, bringing their expertise and personal touch to the project. The series is being developed as a streaming show in collaboration with Kenan Thompson’s production company, Artists for Artists (AFA).
  4. Surreal Love (Scripted TV Series – In Development)
    • In collaboration with Barry O’Connell, Tempest co-created Surreal Love, a series that takes a deep dive into the world of surrealism. Directed by Peter Webber and produced by David Raymond, an authority on surrealist photography, this project promises to be a visually stunning and thought-provoking exploration of art, love, and the human experience.
  5. Madams of Montclair (Scripted TV Series – In Development)
    • Another exciting project co-created by Tempest and Barry O’Connell is Madams of Montclair, a scripted series that blends drama with rich, layered storytelling. This project is expected to captivate audiences with its exploration of powerful characters and intriguing narratives.
  6. Mandii B. Project (Feature Film – In Development)
    • Tempest is also working on Mandii B. Project, a feature film that she co-created and executive produces alongside Mandii B. The film promises to be a powerful exploration of identity, resilience, and personal growth.
