Eric White: The Multi-Award-Winning Screenwriter Carving His Path in Independent Cinema

In the ever-evolving landscape of independent film, few voices emerge as uniquely persistent and genre-bending as that of Eric White. With a portfolio that spans horror, sci-fi, and psychological drama, White has steadily amassed a reputation not only for his darkly inventive storytelling but also for his string of accolades across international film festivals and screenplay competitions.

One of White’s standout achievements is his short horror screenplay “Blind Vampire,” which has become a global festival favorite. The script earned Platinum for Best Screenplay at the IndieX Film Fest, the Diamond Award at the Hollywood Blood Horror Fest, and Gold for Best Short Script at the Hollywood Just4Shorts Film and Screenplay Competition, all in Los Angeles. Its international acclaim extended to the Florence Film Awards in Italy, where it also took home a win, and the Sochi Film Festival in Russia, where it was named Best Short Script and Screenplay.

A variant of the same story, “Blind Vampire – Dreven,” brought additional acclaim. It won Best Short Screenplay at the Austin Spotlight Film Festival and earned the Award Winner title at the Austin Revolution Film Festival, both in Texas.

White’s versatility doesn’t end with horror. His politically infused sci-fi short “Vapor: First Colonists” won Best Original Screenplay at the Filmmatic Short Screenplay Awards in Hollywood and previously earned him a TV Pilot 1st Scene Winner award for its earlier iteration “Vapor” at the Filmmatic TV Pilot Awards.

Diving into psychological themes, White’s short script “Scent of Blood” was honored as Best Short Script at the renowned Oaxaca FilmFest in Mexico. Likewise, “The Blue Suit,” a poignant and layered drama, earned the title of Best Short Screenplay at the Queen Palm International Film Festival in Palm Springs and won Best Screenplay at the IndieX Film Fest in Hollywood.

Through these accolades, Eric White demonstrates a rare ability to navigate genres while keeping a signature style: intense, character-driven, and deeply immersive. Whether it’s a chilling vampire tale or a futuristic political drama, his scripts continue to resonate with judges and audiences alike—cementing his role as a rising force in indie film storytelling.

As White’s recognition grows, so too does the anticipation for his next project. With a proven track record across festivals in Los Angeles, New York, Austin, Sochi, Oaxaca, Florence, and beyond, one thing is clear—Eric White is a writer to watch.
