Dr.Maulik Patel (PT, MS, DPT) is a certified physical therapy practitioner in the state of Illinois and Michigan in USA. He is currently employed full time in COVID-19 facility at Gottlieb Memorial Hospital, Illinois, USA
Today we interview him and he will let us know more about COVID-19 and the importance of social distancing, masking, hand hygiene and quarantine if ill.
News24hours Staff : When shall a person consult a primary care physician during this COVID-19 season?
Dr.Maulik Patel : If you have two or more symptoms associated with COVID-19 like cough, shortness of breath, difficulty in breathing, sore throat, frequent chills, headache, loss of smell or taste it is importance to consult a primary care physician.
News24hours Staff : What should be done in addition to just consulting the physician and getting tested?
Dr.Maulik Patel : In addition to Physician consultation and getting tested, it’s important to self isolate/quarantine. As self isolation is important to curb the spread of the pandemic, it is vital.
News24hours Staff : What is your take on social distancing during this pandemic? How can it help?
Dr.Maulik Patel : Social Distancing is to keep a safe distance from fellow person in order to avoid the spread. Minimum 1 meter distance is preferred. It can reduce the spread, if we follow social distancing. As it is hard to just lock-down the entire country, practicing social distancing is the best way out to reduce the spread.
News24hours Staff : How is using masks and sanitizer impacting the reduction of COVID-19 Spread?
Dr.Maulik Patel : Masking is definitely a must during this pandemic to curb the spread as it protects our mouth and nose from in-taking the virus. Proper cleaning of masks or disposal of one time use masks are also needed to ensure reduction of the spread. Moreover using sanitizer before going out and after entering is to be practiced. Use of soap in between is recommended. Soaps and sanitizers kills viruses instantly.
News24hours Staff : How can people stay fit during the pandemic? Do you have any advice to the public?
Dr.Maulik Patel : You do not need to head to the gym and sweat over a tough workout routine, as some simple and effective at-home activities will offer some great advantages. Most people find themselves in conditions where they cannot go to a gym to enable them to train out with equipment.
Fortunately, there are a variety of ways to work out at home with limited or no equipment at all. Living at home also offers a variety of wellness advantages thus saving a bunch of cash. Here are some great tips on how to have amazing at-home training experience for a healthy lifestyle. Some methods to use are Stair-Stepping, Jumping Rope, Core Exercises, Weightlifting at Home, Kegel Exercises etc. You may read my medium articles to get a clear idea on how these exercises can be done to stay fit.
