Sitges Holidays in Spain
Sitges, in Spain, is a coastal town just southwest of Barcelona. It’s easily commutable if you do want to see the city – about 35 kilometers away – but far enough to have a more rural feel about it. The town itself is very typically Spanish, with plenty of old buildings and places to eat.
Beach bums
Most visitors to Sitges quickly find themselves at the various local beaches. A great way to see them is the Passeig Maritim, a walking route along the local piers, boardwalks and beaches that will show you as much or as little of the coastline as you want.View sitges holidays accommodation in the beach .
Sitges beach is a destination for many people staying outside of the town as well as within it. If you want something a little less mainstream, Sausalito beach is slightly more secluded and has a popular bar with cocktails and other holiday refreshments. Vendors compete for your custom along the beaches, offering activities like surfing and kayaking, if you want to see the town in a slightly different way. For the more adventurous amongst you, there is also a nudist beach called Cala Balmins in a secluded area of the town. If you’re looking for a relaxing time a Sitges holiday will be perfect for you.
Into town
Sitges has a combination of popular cafés and restaurants along the water front and further into the town too. You can visit a variety of small museums, depending what you wish to see. The Museu Cau Ferrat displays a variety of artwork and is newly refurbished.
The focal point of the town is The Parish of Saint Bartholomew. The church is taller than much of the other architecture, standing on top of the town and reaching into the sky with its impressive spire. You can choose to visit the church for some peace and quiet by foot, or paddle around the rock it sits on during one of the kayaking tours.
For those who choose to stay on dry land, Segway tours are popular. These unusual vehicles can provide good fun for older kids and families. Although a little unnatural at first, they are a great way to get around the town and conserve energy for evenings out.
If you do find yourself enjoying a drink or two in the town you won’t have much difficulty finding somewhere that stays open a little later, with a whole host of local clubs competing for your custom also you can look for Hello Apartments Sitges. The Nirvana Lounge and Trinity Bar are both popular, and the cocktails at Pique Nique come highly recommended.
