Army’s Cheetah helicopter crashes in West Bengal, 3 dead
An army helicopter has reportedly crashed at Sukna Military Camp in West Bengal around 11.45 am Wednesday morning, killing three officers and leaving one junior commissioned officer critically injured.
Army officials said the chopper crashed around 11.45 am when it was returning to the camp’s helipad at Sukna, near Silgirui, from a routine mission.
The army’s 33 Corps is based at Sukna in northern part of West Bengal and all aircraft of the Army are run by Army Aviation Corps.
While three officers died on the spot, the JCO was evacuated and admitted to a hospital in a critical condition.
A Court of Inquiry has been ordered into the incident.
